What Are You Holding On To? ~ Joy Comer

One day, as I was running errands, I stopped at a red light. As I was waiting, a bee landed on the front window.  The light changed and I began to move forward. The farther I got down the road, the tighter the bee held on.  I kept thinking, “Let go! You are getting farther away from your hive!”.  Finally, after many miles, the bee let go but it was very far from home.  The Lord nudged my heart and I thought, “Wow, how many times have I  held on to something and it took me farther from home, from my Lord?” He wasn’t the one who moved, I was. How many times have I held on to a sin that I wasn’t willing to give up just yet?  Or was I nursing that bitterness and anger that I  was unwilling to forgive?

Ephesians 4:31

“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

1 John 1:9

“ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Proverbs 28:13

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Until  I learned to let go of my will, I could not become closer to Him.

Why do we hold on to things that are bad for us?

-Comfortable in sin

-Fear of what others think

-pride

-anger

-self pity

-not saved

-self righteousness

-addiction

-fear of change

Don’t let whatever you are holding on to take away your peace, your health, your friendships, your victory and take you farther away from the Father.

It is not too late to let go and hold on to Him.

Isaiah 41:13

“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”

He truly is only a prayer away!
