Becoming More Like Jesus - Judy Davis

Hello, my name is Judy Davis the pastor’s wife at Talking Rock Baptist Church in Branson

West, Missouri

Here are 4 things I suggest that is in the Bible that we are commanded to grow in the grace

and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ; many Christians think that they don't need to grow

because they might think they are fully mature spiritually.

But consider this, when a piece of fruit reaches maturity, it becomes ripe what happens? It

begins to rot, when you think you are where you need to be as a Christian and are completely

mature you will begin to rot spiritually.

Philippians 3:15-4:1 We learn things we must do to become more like Jesus

to keep from rotting spiritually.

1. Live Biblically so when we stand before God, we will hear well done thou good and

faithful servant." the Bible says in this passage that Christians need to grow and

continue growing [[ Peter 3: 1 B says " But grow in the grace and knowledge of our

Lord and Savior Jesus Christ".

ls that a command or a suggestion? lt is a command! Therefore, it is a sin not to be

growing.

2, Live Cautiously Phil 3:17 Brethren, be doers together of me, and mark them

which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

The Bible says to mark them which walk so as you have us for ensample the word

ensample means pattern. What kind of Christian will new believers in your church

become if they use you as a pattern? If we want to become more like Christ it will

mean living as He lived. What we wear, our speech and our attitude is it Christlike?

3. Live Expectantly recently I became a great-grandmother we could not wait for her

to arrive. Baby showers were given, etc. in preparations for Skylar Grace to arrive.

btw she was a healthy baby 9tbs 3oz. 21in. tong Big girl! ln Philippians 3:20 says we

are commanded to look for our LORD JESUS CHRIST the word look means to watch

for something expectantly just as we could not wait for Skylar to be born and to hold

her, if we look for Jesus expectantly it will give us motivation to become more like

Him.4. Live Lovingly in Phil 4:1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my

joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. Paul uses 6 endearment

terms for the believers in Philippians could not wait to hold and love on Skylar

this is how we should treat one another in Christ,

Jesus said the world could use this to determine who his best disciples are.

John13:35

I don't know your heart, so I hope this was a challenge and encouragement to you

as it was a challenge to me as well because by no means I am not as mature as I

would like to be. Keep growing in Christ.
